Our Classrooms!
INFANTS & WADDLERS (6 weeks old – 16 months old)
Warm, nurturing teachers develop bonds with your child and build trust from their very first day. Your child will have one primary caregiver. She will be your main point of contact and guide your child’s development through the many milestones that occur in their first 16months. Each one of our classrooms are specifically designed to provide a warm nurturing environment, are stocked with educational toys and stimulating activities are provided throughout the day. We use a milestone-based curriculum and provide many opportunities for various immersive learning experiences.
TODDLERS (16 months old – 24 months old)
Toddlers learn best by exploration. At Creative Kids, we use a Toddler’s natural curiosity to
guide and teach them along the way to reaching their next milestone. With their ever adaptive personalities, Toddlers transition through a variety of activities throughout the day including circle time, where language development is the main focus. The rest of the day is comprised of gross-motor play, self-directed and teacher-directed activities, creativity, science, simple-math and table toys to encourage the development of fine-motor skills.
TWO YEAR OLDS (24 months old – 36 months old)
Filled with lots of energy and an innate curiosity, our Terrific Twos program provides students with the social, emotional and developmental skills needed to flourish in this wonderful world. In preparation for our Preschool Program, the two year olds are challenged daily with the Abeka curriculum in all cognitive areas of development. We offer plenty of opportunities for them to explore their growing individuality and budding independence.
PRESCHOOL: In Preschool, we strive to prepare your child for Kindergarten. By improving your students’ language, writing and cognitive abilities, in a way that suits their pace of learning, they will experience a huge boost in confidence and improved self-esteem. Each day is filled with an array of activities including circle time, creativity, music, science, math and outside play, just to name a few. Children will expand their knowledge base through these activities with the expectation of being fully prepared for Pre-K!
MINI KINDERGARTEN: Focusing on Kindergarten readiness skills, our Pre-K students will get a glimpse into the life of a Kindergartener. Each student will have a portfolio containing their completed coursework while in Pre-K. Our Pre-K program provides students with an enriched academic foundation for Kindergarten. In this learning community, your child will build vital skills needed for kindergarten and will gain respect for others as well as for themselves. Included at no extra cost are weekly Spanish lessons, STEM-related activities and community field trips with our neighboring partners. Other educational field trips are offered throughout the year, for a nominal cost and permission slips will be provided.
PALS testing is done each fall and spring, along with educational assessments. We encourage you to take advantage of the Parent-Teacher Conferences that are offered so you can supplement your child’s education at home, in preparation for “big school”!
AFTERSCHOOL: Below is a list of the schools where our Super Stars attend:
Botetourt County Schools
Once our children arrive from school, a nutritious snack is served by our teachers. Homework Huddles are provided for children who wish to complete their homework while at Creative Kids and of course, the teachers are here to help them. Some self-directed play, teacher-directed learning objectives and the Outdoor Play area rounds out their day. For your convenience, our school friends are here all day when school is closed due to inclement weather, teacher workdays or vacation weeks, such as spring break and Christmas.
SUMMER CAMP:
Our Summer Camp Program is filled with tons of fun and high energy! Our Summer Camp program is comprised of the “best of the best”! The best field trips around town, the best hands-on activities here, the best playground area for sports and challenges and of course, the best group of friends you can ever meet! Our Campers have weekly themes designed to coincide with their field trips so they never stop learning! (Shhh! It’s actually disguised as fun!) We plan weekly special events on site, fun cooking projects and so much more! Making the most of summer and making the best summer memories…that’s what Summer Camp is all about at Creative Kids!
